In collaboration with BLDD Architects, Paragon provided Interior Design services for the renovation of Tredway Library on the Augustana Campus.
For this project following LEED principles, the library was transformed into a Center for Student Services which will include the updated library, a new food court, large meeting room, classrooms and study spaces as well as offices for faculty and the office for student life. This project reflects a very new and original idea to combine many of the functions typically provided to a college student, but generally in separate buildings. The concept in this case, is to bring the students and faculty together in more of a college “community “setting.
Based on extensive interviews with faculty members, students and library staff, we are designed spaces for students, faculty and staff that will take this building well into the future. From computer work stations, to study lounges and a coffee bar, each space is specifically designed for comfort as well as the latest technology.
Working within the existing library footprint, spaces were redesigned with varied forms of study and collaboration spaces. Comfortable lounge chairs, study carrels and computer stations provide for the many ways students work and study.
All furniture, fabrics, carpeting, paints and wall coverings were chosen with timelessness, durability, stain resistance, and environmental consciousness in mind. We are proud to have had the opportunity to design this project to echo the tradition of the college’s historic past while revitalizing its future as a multipurpose academic facility.
